Themes and customization

The catalog and recovery controls below describe current master, after 0.11.2.

Open Settings > Themes to choose an installed theme and preview it before applying it.

On private instances, Browse more themes searches the optional catalog by name or category. Import and apply installs a theme for the instance; other users can then apply it without another download. Only its owner or an administrator can delete it. Imports require server HTTPS access to the catalog; installed themes work offline and are not automatically updated.

If a previously selected theme is unavailable, Relay falls back to an installed default. Use Find previous theme to locate it; fallback does not automatically download anything.

In Settings > Interface, you can also hide the nickname badge beside the composer across all themes.

You can export the active theme as CSS, import a theme CSS file, or add custom CSS overrides. Treat imported CSS as code: use themes only from sources you trust, and check customizations after a Relay update because interface selectors can change.

Instance administrators choose the default theme and can add authentication/sidebar branding under Integrations and branding.
